Choosing a Party Caterer
When you are planning a party, it is sometimes necessary to arrange for a caterer to provide food and drink if the venue does not offer this kind of service. There are a lot of things that you need to consider when choosing a caterer for your function, from the kind of food that you want to serve through to the way in which that food will be supplied to your guests. Depending on how formal or replaced the party is going to be, you will need to choose an appropriate caterer who offers experience in the kind of event that you are hosting, and can provide the best possible service at a competitive price.
The chances are that you will have decided on the kind of food that you want to serve quite early on in the process of arranging the party, and will have planned a menu, or at the very least chosen what cuisine best suits your taste. Once you have done this, you will need to get several quotes to cater the party. Do not be afraid to get references about whichever company you choose, as this will tell you plenty about the quality of the service that they are able to offer. The quote that they give you will either include the waiting staff and the plates and tables, or they will charge you separately. It is important to agree all of these charges in advance of the booking rather than risk having a nasty surprise later on.
Once you have chosen your caterer and agreed a price, it is normally the case that they will consult with you about the exact dishes that they are going to serve. This will normally include a chance for you to get a taste for their food and either approve or decline the meals that are being served. You should not be afraid about saying that you do not like a particular dish.
With the menu confirmed to your satisfaction, a price agreed and a plan in place for the evening, the caterer will confirm all the details for you in the form of a formal business contract. They will set out all of the facts relating to the booking and then make all the arrangements that need to be carried out in advance.
On the day of the party, the caterer will turn up in advance of the start of the party with all of the equipment and supplies that they need for the day, and set to work preparing the food. If they have arranged waiting staff, these will be briefed about everything that needs to be done, and in many cases the caterer will handle the setting up of all the tables and everything else that needs to be arranged before the party starts.
The main reason for hiring a specialized caterer for your event is that they will take all of the stress that is involved in the day, carry out all of the jobs that need to be done, and ensure that the party goes off without a hitch.
